Sophos Version 7 Software nearing retirement

Dear Pentana Solutions Sophos Customer,

RE: Sophos Version 7 Software nearing retirement

Sophos have advised Pentana Solutions that Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows Version 7 will cease to be a supported product as at 31st March 2011. All users running Sophos will begin to receive the following message appear on their desktop;

“Sophos Anti-Virus 7, EM Library and Sophos Control Center will be retired at the end of March 2011. You should upgrade computers running these products so that your network continues to be protected.

Messages will appear on all computers from the start of January 2011.
To turn off these messages and to learn more about the retirement, visit Sophos
support knowledgebase article . “

Note: The above notification does not mean that your Sophos licenses are going to expire.

How does this affect your dealership?
This notification relates to the software expiry only, there are no Sophos software upgrade fees applicable. All Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows Version 7 customers will need to upgrade their server (PC Software if applicable) to Endpoint Security and Control Version 9 or 9.5 prior to 31st March 2011. Failure to upgrade will result in Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows Version 7 not receiving daily anti-virus update files, resulting in your system not being protected from virus attacks in the future.

What you need to do:
Below is a link from Sophos Support that explains what you need to complete the software upgrade. Please click on the link/s on this webpage that relate to the Sophos products that you use. You will then be able to download the new version of software and follow the step by step process to install it.

If you do not have the skill set within your company to complete the new software installation the Pentana Solutions Networks Operation Centre can assist you with this process. This can be completed remotely by our Network Engineers at a charge of $100 per hour ex GST. This hourly rate is heavily discounted from our normal engineering charge and is valid for this offer only – valid until 31st March 2011.

If you would like to take up this offer please contact our Network Support Team on 03 9535 2380, select Option 2 from the first menu, select Option 2 from the second menu. Please provide a purchase order so the engineers can begin the installation for you. Our engineers expect that on average the installation will incur a few hours of work, however the installation time can fluctuate depending on each setup.
